Relationship Matters

My Approach

My therapeutic work is grounded in an integrative counselling approach, drawing on a number of counselling modalities and techniques that enables me to create personalised treatment plans that appropriately reflect your history, experiences, aims and needs. Predominantly drawing on the therapeutic modalities of humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

I am a trained and qualified Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist and registered member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT). I work exclusively with clients in this field, either as an individual or as a couple. As a member of COSRT I abide by their professional standards and code of ethics. I have spent a number of years as a Relate practitioner as well as offering private therapy.

I have spent over a decade as an educator in secondary schools across Essex, teaching Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) as well as Philosophy and Ethics, specialising in communication skills, healthy relationships, female genital mutilation (FGM) awareness/prevention and consent: I keep well-being, respect, care and dignity at the core of my practice regardless of your age, culture, religion, life experiences, sexual orientation or relationship structure. I have been in the counselling world for a number of years and so also draw on my training experiences with the Samaritans, my training and experience as a counselling practitioner as well as my specialist training as a Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist. I have spent the last 3 years as a Relate practitioner working specifically as a Psychosexual Therapist and Relationship counsellor.

I am aware of and empathetic to the sensitive nature of this type of therapy, the themes and content can make some feel uncomfortable, vulnerable or anxious about seeking the help that they need. I can offer a range of grounding techniques, visualisations and mindful practices to help you along with this journey.
